Pricing
How pricing works
A septic job costs what the ground and the rules make it cost, not what the size of the house suggests. Here is how we get to the number.
What decides the price
The same house can need a plain gravity system or a mound, and the two are very different jobs.
Soil and water table: sand, clay and wet ground call for different systems
System type: conventional, aerobic or mound
The distance from the house to the field, and what is in the way
Tank size, set by the bedrooms and the permit
Permit, inspection and site-work requirements
What the estimate includes, and what it doesn't
The written estimate covers the system in the plan. It leaves out the work around it.
Included: tank, field or mound, pumps, lids, permit paperwork, the permit inspection
Not included: the soil test, tree removal, extra fill beyond the plan, landscaping, driveway repair
What happens at the visit
A visit for a new system is how we write the estimate. A repair visit to find the cause is billed, and the amount is credited toward the work if you hire us.
After hours
We do not run an all-night line. After 5 p.m. and on Sundays the phone goes to voicemail, and we call back from 7 the next morning. Sewage coming into the house is the one job we roll a truck for in the evening, and an after-hours visit costs more, at a rate we say on the phone before we come.
When you get the number
In writing, before any digging, as one total with the soil test, permit and install listed as lines. If the county or the ground changes the plan, we send the change and the new total in writing before we go on.
How and when you pay
A deposit holds the install date. Payments after that follow the stages on the estimate: the permit, the tank set, the inspection passed. We take checks and cards.
Cost questions
Before you ask for a number
Can you give me a price over the phone?
We can tell you what moves the price. A number needs the soil test and a look at the lot, because the same house can need very different systems.
Will the price change after you start?
Only if the county or the ground changes the plan, and only after we send you the change and the new total in writing.
Is a repair visit credited if I hire you?
Yes. The visit amount comes off the repair estimate if you go ahead with us.
